EASY CROCHETED FINGERLESS MITTENS
Easy Crocheted Fingerless Mittens
These mittens were made using leftover Lion Brand Homespun yarn and a Boye size K aluminum hook.
Chain 26.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each chain across. Ch 1, turn. (24 sc)
Rows 2 & 3: Using back loop only (BLO), sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (24 sc)
Row 4: (BLO) sc in 17 sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sc in BLO of next 4 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: (BLO) sc in next 4 sc, sc in next 3 ch, (BLO) sc in next 17 sc. Ch 1, turn. (Thumb opening made.)
Rows 6-17: (BLO) sc in each sc across. Ch1, turn.
Row 18: (BLO) sc in each sc across to last sc, sl st and finish off leaving a long tail of yarn.
Using a large eye need, thread the yarn onto the needle and sewing into the back loops only, sew the two long edges of the mitten together. Bind off.
(This is a very forgiving pattern. It can be made shorter or longer depending on how many stitches are put on the beginning chain. It can be made smaller for children by leaving off rows or made larger by adding rows… If you have a problem.. please let me know and I will correct the pattern.)

I am so sorry. I should have marked that more clearly. BLO means to use the Back Loop Only as you crochet.

Is this the pattern for the fingerless mittens as shonw in the picture with the easy hat? It looks different but maybe its because of the yarn used?
Thanks

Yes, this is the same pattern as the gloves with the hat.

Having found this fingerless pattern, I am very happy. I plan to make it up ASAP. Thank you for providing it. Plan to make more to use as small gifts to my postman, grocery store outdoor worker, and my sons who can always use such up here in New England.
Again, thank you.

I love red heart soft yarn and you said you used that yarn in your picture of the hat and mittens set. What size hook did you use when you made the mittens with the RH soft yarn. The K hook you said you used for the homespun yarn above seems like it would be too big. Thanks!
